Great Feedback!

So, I was in the middle of one of those irritating jobs where you have to back and forth to get something sorted, and my phone rang. I noticed the number was someone local, but no one in my contact list. Just for a moment I thought ‘send it to message bank…’ Pushing that voice aside, I swiped the call open, “Hi, it’s Dave…”

It turned out to be a woman from one of the Perth CRC congregations, who wanted to let me know how much she appreciated Catalyst. “I don’t have a computer, but I get my copy from the information table at church … I just wanted to let you know that I love it, and that Catalyst is the best thing since Trowel & Sword…that’s all.”

The call lasted 42 seconds, but those 42 seconds were a wonderful encouragement. It is contacts like these which remind me how Catalyst is meeting a need, and encouraging people in their mission and ministry.

In the midst of my initial irritation, the Lord reminded me of something important: there’s more going on than my agenda, and there are more important things than the urgent things which occupy my mind.

Sometimes, the things we think might be another irritation turn out to be a surprising blessing. Agree?

Have a great week!

Dave

Ministry Opportunity: Kingston, Tas

Assistant Minister

The Christian Reformed Church of Kingston, Tasmania

Kingston

Description of Christian Reformed Church of Kingston (‘CRCK’)

CRCK is a growing, evangelical church in Kingston, Tasmania (ten minutes south of Hobart). We have 350 members, covering a wide spectrum of ages and backgrounds, and three, full-time pastors (Lead, Assistant, and Children’s and Youth). We are part of a network of five other churches, all of whom CRCK has planted over the last fifteen years. As such, every pastor who works with us is part of a large, supportive team. Kingston has approximately 20,000 people and is the fastest growing municipality in Tasmania, so there are also huge opportunities for outreach in our area.

Our current Assistant Pastor is leaving at the end of 2014 and we are looking for a replacement to begin in January 2015.

Who we are looking for

  • Someone with a deep love for God, his people, and the lost.
  • Someone who is prayerful.
  • Someone who can recruit and train ministry leaders.
  • Someone who can explain and apply the Bible to people in their everyday lives.
  • Someone with good people skills, who can urge people to follow Jesus whole-heartedly.
  • Someone with the ability to work closely in a ministry team environment.
  • Someone with a sense of adventure and a willingness to try new things.

Gaining Traction

Hi Catalyst friends,

Just sharing with you some of our stats over the first two years of our life…

Catalyst stats 201405

6,000 views may not be such a huge number, but what’s interesting is where the traffic is coming from. By far the greatest number come from Australia, there are people from 45 or so other countries who are also interacting with Catalyst.

Thanks for your continued interest, and may our great and gracious God be honoured in your life, ministry and mission.

Dave
